3D Mosaic
After my early missteps in garden art, I transitioned to more traditional mosaics, focusing primarily on indoor wall art. It wasn’t until recently that I consciously realized my true passion lies in exploring new things, though, in hindsight, it’s clear this has always been my driving force. Midway through my mosaic journey, I entered what my husband affectionately called the “Jesica can mosaic that” phase. I spent countless hours scouring Craigslist and thrift stores for intriguing shapes to work with, even offering my services to a friend who’s backyard view was an unsightly water tank.
A few years ago, I took an online class on building my own 3D substrates with David Jarvinen at Mosaic Arts Online. While the process turned out to be quite simple, it unlocked a whole new universe for my art. The thrill of creating mosaic forms became so addictive that I soon had a surplus of them. To this day, I am still working through my ample supply of 3D forms, each project an opportunity to experiment and expand the boundaries of my creativity.
