Testimonials

I’m a loner when it comes to creating art and wasn’t sure I’d enjoy a multi-day workshop at someone else’s home. Once I warmed up, I greatly appreciated the laughter and encouragement working alongside others.

Jesica gave us full access to her bright and well-stocked studio filled with hundreds of colors, shapes, and sizes of tile and glass. She drew on her studio and gallery pieces to illustrate various methods and design possibilities. The flexible schedule allowed me to work anytime I wanted in addition to the structured sessions and Jesica did a brilliant job demonstrating techniques to create substrates and working with 3-D pieces.

Did I mention Carleton Manor, the hospitality, and food? The house sits on an acre of property in east Bend with cozy bedrooms and a huge inviting porch to read, converse with others, or gaze at the trees. The house was much cleaner than mine ever gets with A/C in every room. Jesica and her husband served delicious, homemade meals and snacks daily. If you enjoy animals, there are four sweet dogs and a cat available for petting and play time.

If you’re contemplating taking time for yourself in an energizing and creative environment, attend one of Jesica’s workshops or retreats. I savored my time away from the city with no distractions, in a welcoming and relaxing environment. Jesica’s open studio time and courses are affordable and if you can get away for a multi-day retreat, jump on it! I’m excited to go back when the snow hits the ground.

I’ve been taking classes with Jesica, of Carleton Manor Mosaics, for over 5 years and it’s still one of the most enjoyable hobbies I have. I began classes in 2018 and have progressed into some truly amazing projects during this incredible ride. I’ve made bird baths, stepping stones, glass on glass pictures, gnomes and the most beautiful feather (trust me, you’d have to see it to understand but it is gorgeous!). Her classes offer everything for the novice to the advanced mosaic/glass fusion enthusiast. She has an abundant collection of supplies available for use and her knowledge and guidance is invaluable. Plus, here’s a bonus, I just plain have fun in her classes and during her studio time. Once you’ve gotten confortable with the process of mosaic and/or glass fusion, Jesica has an option of joining her open studio time time once a week to work on your own projects. This is a day to play and learn on your own and to enjoy the freedom to play with others and share ideas and thoughts. I hope you get an opportunity to take a class or two, I think you’ll find the experience a ton of fun!
