Saturday, February 22 : 10am-4pm
Sunday, February 23 : 10am-3pm
3-dimensional mosaics present additional challenges in terms of design and application, but the end result is completely worth it. Embellished with a variety of colorful glass & ceramic time, these gazing balls will provide beauty, interest and sparkle for your yard or garden all year round.
Friday evening we will briefly discuss and determine your designs and quickly start working on your globes. Feel free to peruse Pinterest for ideas that appeal to you – the less time we spend on coming up with a design plan, the faster you can get to gluing.
Friday evening through before lunch on Sunday, you will create and execute your design with pre-made tile. Sunday afternoon after a break, we will grout, clean, and polish so it’s ready to put out in your yard or garden when you get home (a stand is not included in this class, so consider finding something ahead of time so you don’t have to wait to display it!)
NOTE: This class qualifies as somewhat of an “intensive”, as covering these balls will take concentration and commitment throughout the weekend. Since everyone’s artistic process and timing is different, anyone who has not finished gluing by lunch on Sunday will continue to work on finishing. The cost of the class includes the materials to cover the balls, but if you need more time to finish then you can come to Open Studio at the beginner rate ($20/hour).
All tools and materials provided, no experience necessary. Ages 18 and up. Some snacks will be available, but plan to bring beverages, snacks, and a lunch for Saturday & Sunday.
